Golf Wins Metros, DCSAAs Up Next

Congratulations to Varsity Golf for winning the Metro Golf Championship! Gonzaga scored a +16 (376) to beat Georgetown Prep (390) by 14 strokes. Paul VI shot a 395 and St. Albans shot a 415.

At a rain-soaked Worthington Manor Golf Club, Jacob Peele '24 shot a team-low, even par 72. Jack Hartman '24 and Jake Lopes '27 both shot 73. Carson Looney '25 shot 78 and Patrick Pritsios '24 shot 80 to round out the championship performance.

“You kind of just get a vibe when you’re walking around, seeing other guys,” Hartman told the Washington Post. “I knew the rest of [my teammates] were playing well, and I knew if I just made a solid number coming in we’d be in a great spot.”

Along with last week’s Washington Catholic Athletic Conference victory, the Metros win puts us in position to complete the team goal of sweeping the annual three postseason events. Next up, we will compete in the D.C. State Athletic Association tournament at Langston Golf Course in NE Washington, DC.

Go Eagles!
