Privacy Policy

Gonzaga College High School “Gonzaga” or “the School” is committed to protecting the privacy of the members of its community and of those who interact with the School. This Privacy Policy explains the School's practices related to information we collect about individuals who visit our website, www.gonzaga.org, and other websites, including integrated web applications, that link to this Privacy Policy (the “Sites”).

  • Information Collection

    Gonzaga, or service providers acting on our behalf, collects the personal information that you choose to provide about yourself and others when using our Sites. Personal information may include, but is not limited to, name, contact information, billing information, information pertaining to your interests, date of birth, gender, religion, ethnicity, employment and education background, and other information you choose to provide. For example, we may collect this information when you submit forms through our Sites, donate through our Sites, create a MySchoolApp account, purchase items through our online bookstore, or send us inquiries.
     
    Students may also provide information about themselves to Gonzaga and other members of the Gonzaga community, including through third-party integrated applications we use. For example, students may provide such information when they attend virtual classes, upload their homework, or connect with teachers and classmates through these applications. Please see below for more information about third-party applications integrated into the Sites.
     
    You may choose to provide information about Gonzaga students, prospective students, and other individuals applying for admission to our School, such as their names, birthdates, addresses, extracurricular interests, and education information. We may collect this information, for instance, when you submit an application inquiry or upload information to MySchoolApp.
     
    We may receive information about students and prospective students from third parties and combine that information with other information that we collect. For example, when your child uses the High School Placement Test to apply to Gonzaga, the Archdiocese of Washington will share your child’s test information with Gonzaga for our admissions purposes. We may also obtain information about other individuals from third parties, such as information used for fundraising purposes.
     
    Gonzaga (or third parties as described below) also may automatically collect information concerning your interactions with us and our Sites, such as your internet protocol (IP) addresses, geographic location of visitors (country, city), browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, time spent on pages, and other information we collect through the use of cookies and similar technologies. 
  • Information Use

    We may use the personal information we collect for any lawful purpose, including the following:
    • To provide our school-related services.
    • To respond to your inquiries and requests.
    • To fundraise and process donations.
    • To communicate with website visitors, parents, students, applicants, alumni, and others.
    • To provide information that may be of interest to you.
    • For our business purposes, including analytics, research, and advertising and marketing.
    • To maintain, operate, personalize, and improve our School and Sites.
    • To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations and maintain the security of our School and Sites. 
  • Information Sharing

    Gonzaga may share the information we collect with parties affiliated with the School as permitted by law, including:
    • With authorized individuals at Gonzaga (as determined by the School), such as teachers and other Gonzaga employees, and approved affiliates.
    • With subcontractors/affiliates, agents, integrated web applications, or payment service providers that the School contracts with, including to deliver certain school-related services.
    • With parents/guardians of a student.
    • With other members of the School community, including parents and alumni. For example, the School has a password-protected community directory, through which current parents may view other current parents’ and students’ name, home address, email, and home phone number.
    The School may also disclose your personal information outside the School community under certain conditions, such as when:
    • There is reason to believe that the disclosure is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with rights or property of Gonzaga or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities or where the School believes in good faith that the law requires it or it is necessary to respond to a legal request.
    • Accreditation, oversight, and research authorities request such information or it is necessary to share information with our professional advisors, such as attorneys.
    • In the event Gonzaga sells or transfers all or a portion of its business or assets to a third party, such as in the event of an actual or potential merger, acquisition, or bankruptcy reorganization.
    • You have consented to the sharing, or we have disclosed the sharing to you when we collected or shared the information.
    In any instance where it is necessary to share your personal information outside the School as described above, the School will do our best to limit the personal information we share to that which is necessary.
     
    We may share information that has been de-identified or aggregated without limitation.
  • Cookies and Analytics

    Gonzaga uses statistical tools provided by third parties like Google Analytics and Blackbaud for non-advertising purposes, including to analyze trends in how the School’s Sites are accessed and for other analytics purposes.  For more information about how Google Analytics collects and uses data when you use our Sites, visit www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners, and to opt out of Google Analytics, visit tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
     
    Web browsers may also have settings allowing you to reject cookies, selectively accept cookies, or delete cookies previously accepted. Please be aware that rejecting or deleting cookies from Gonzaga’s Sites may make certain functions unavailable to you.
  • Security and Retention

    Gonzaga is committed to protecting the personal information of the users of its Sites. Maintenance and usage of information is managed with the guiding security principles of least privilege and need to know. 

    Gonzaga will retain the information we collect for the purposes for which it was provided and for any legal or regulatory requirements thereafter.
  • Integrated Applications, Links, and Social Media Tools

    The Gonzaga Sites may contain links to third-party sites and apps. For example, the Sites may integrate third-party web applications that we use to support our School. These integrated applications, such as MySchoolApp, may collect information directly from members of our School community.
     
    Gonzaga also maintains a presence on social media sites and apps, including, but not limited to, Vimeo, Flickr, Facebook, and Instagram. Our Sites may include integrated social media tools or “plug-ins” provided by such companies. Please be mindful of your personal privacy needs and the privacy needs of others if you use these tools or otherwise interact with related features on our Sites. Gonzaga cannot control the privacy or security of information you choose to make public or share with others via social media, blogs or other websites.
     
    Please be aware that Gonzaga is not responsible for the privacy practices of sites, apps, or tools offered by third parties. The School encourages you to read the privacy policies of websites, apps, and tools you visit or use. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected on the Sites.
     
    Gonzaga monitors its Sites and other areas where postings related to Gonzaga may occur and retains the right to remove postings that are inconsistent with its culture, mission, or the best interests of its students and other constituents.
  • International Visitors/Constituents

    Gonzaga College High School and its Sites are located within the United States. If you are accessing the website from the European Union, other countries in Europe, Asia, or any other region with laws or regulations governing personal information collection, use, and disclosure that differ from U.S. laws, please be advised that the laws in the U.S. may not be as protective of your privacy as those in your location.
  • Your Choices

    You may manage your email subscriptions or opt out of receiving Gonzaga’s communications by following instructions in emails we send or by contacting info@gonzaga.org.
     
    Parents and students with Gonzaga accounts may adjust their privacy settings by logging into the Sites and editing their profile.
     
    You may request to view, update, restrict the use of, or delete your personal information at any time by contacting info@gonzaga.org.
  • Changes to the Privacy Policy

    Gonzaga will review the Privacy Policy as needed. If changes are made to the Policy, the School will publicize the changes on this page. The posted version is the current version.
