The arts are a vital and thriving component of life on Eye Street, where theater productions, literary publications, choral groups, and musical ensembles offer myriad outlets for creativity and personal expression.
In addition to arts courses that are part of the regular curriculum, students have the opportunity to pursue their artistic interests in advanced arts electives, independent tutorials, and the performing arts. For example, a student can play in the chamber orchestra, join the stage crew for a play, or undertake an independent art study in which a faculty member serves as his individual mentor throughout the year. Gonzaga's Poets and Writers Club often enters citywide competitions, while a schoolwide photography contest draws dozens of entries every spring. Taken together, this rich and varied program helps develop well-rounded young men who appreciate art for its own sake.
