Cross Country Finishes Strong at McQuaid Invitational

Cross Country is in the middle of its season, and the Eagles are looking to hit their stride as championship racing approaches. Last weekend, the team traveled to Rochester, NY, to compete in the McQuaid Invitational. On a cool, crisp afternoon, the Eagles competed hard to earn second place out of the six Jesuit schools in attendance, finishing 19th overall in a massive field of 192 schools.

Although Gonzaga did not take home the Glavin Cup (awarded to the top Jesuit team each year), the team's strong finish was led by Declan Musselman '27, who finished in 16:10, and Ben Bakshi '28, who clocked a time of 16:17 on the 3-mile course—the pair took fifth and sixth place among all Jesuit school runners. In the "Future Stars" race, the Gonzaga squad finished eighth, led by Ryan Mead '28 in 17:00. In the JV race, Gonzaga finished fourth, led by Brent Cruz '28 in 17:40.

Next up for the team is the VA Showcase just outside of Richmond, VA, on Saturday, October 17. The WCAC Championship will take place a week earlier than normal this year, with the team competing at Kenilworth Park in Washington, DC, on Saturday, October 24. Click here to see the full schedule.
