Rugby Beats Ft. Hunt, Charlotte Cardinals Up Next

Rugby defeated Fort Hunt 36-29 in a hard fought match on Saturday, March 7. The team is now 1-1 on the season. Axel Ries '26 led the Eagles with three tries, while Andrew Casteleyn '27 added key conversions and a penalty kick. Sophomores Hank Dombo, Henry MacDonald, and Douglas O’Neil impressed in their first varsity starts, and Gabriel Matta '26 delivered a strong performance at the lineout. “We’re still in a preseason timeframe,” said head coach Peter Baggetta to Goff Rugby Report. “We need to be more patient and clinical inside the 22. Against GGA we had 16 entries and only four scores. Against Fort Hunt 17 entries and only six scores.”

The Eagles are back in action this Saturday to take on the top ranked team in the nation, the Charlotte Cardinals. The game will be played at Benedictine Prep in Richmond, VA at 4:30pm. Click here to see the full season schedule and to follow the team on Instagram.
