Hockey Wins WCAC Title, Advance to MAPHL Semifinals

Gonzaga Hockey won its first WCAC Championship in program history as the Eagles came up short in 2023 and 2024. "Gonzaga senior forward Matthew Shay had watched the Cadets lift those two trophies. This time, he made sure it was the No. 5 Eagles celebrating in front of their fans at The Gardens Ice House in Laurel," wrote the Washington Post

On Valentine’s Night, we defeated St. John’s in a 2-1 overtime thriller. St. John’s forced overtime with a late goal at the 3:45 mark in regulation, but just over two minutes into overtime, Shay buried the game-winner, assisted by Captain TJ Albero '25 and Tommy Clapton '26. Goalie Claude Engle-Kes '27 delivered a stellar performance, stopping 21 of 22 shots. Jack Gardner '25 scored the early goal for the Eagles, assisted by Lucas Abrantes '25 and James Rhilinger '27.
