Wrestling Beats St. John's, Van Sice Captures 100th Career Win

Gonzaga Wrestling hosted the annual midday melee on Wednesday, January 22 in the Carmody Center, where the team competes during the final period of the school day, providing their classmates, faculty, and staff the opportunity to cheer them on in a fun, unique atmosphere.

The team took on St. John's in this year's matchup and came away with a 48-34 win on the strength of six wins by pin and two forfeits. All four senior captains earned pins - Braedan Meeker '25 (120 lbs), Thomas Keefe (157 lbs), Haitham Karim (165 lbs), and Matt Van Sice (190 lbs). Van Sice's win was his 100th of his career, Watch the full match below:

Wins over the Cadets by pin were also earned by Rocco McPherson '28 (113 lbs) and Jonathan Ward '26 (150 lbs). Bo Sulc '26 (175 lbs) and Chris DiLorenzo (215 lbs) each won by forefeit.
