Soccer Beats The Heights and Ireton

Gonzaga Soccer is now 12-0-2 on the season and moves to number 1 in the Washington Post rankings after two road wins this week. On Tuesday, October 15, the Eagles traveled to The Heights in Potomac, MD and came away with a hard fought 5-4 victory. On Thursday, October 17, they faced Bishop Ireton in Alexandria, VA and won 4-1.

The game against The Heights was a back and forth battle as Gonzaga took a 3-0 lead midway through the first half, but the host Cavaliers scored the next three goals to tie it up 3-3 early in the second half. Gonzaga regained the lead midway through the second half on a beautiful header. Ivan Hughes '25 scored his third of the day to put the Eagles up by two, but The Heights got one back to make it 5-4 with just over 14 minutes left. The Eagles played solid defense down the stretch to preserve the victory. Watch the highlights here:
