Cross Country Wins Glavin Cup at McQuaid Invitational
On Saturday, September 27 Gonzaga Cross Country won the Glavin Cup at the McQuaid Invitational in Rochester, NY for the second time in the past three years. The Glavin Cup is awarded to the fastest Jesuit school at the meet, and this year the Eagles claimed the title by placing first among all of the Jesuit schools in the competition.
Our top finishers over the 3 mile course were Anthony Sarro ’26 (🥈 14:41.2), Kai Rock ’26 (27th, 15:50), and Ian Catanzano ’26 (30th, 15:55). Sarro's time is a new Washington, D.C. record and earned him national recognition as one of the top performances of the week on
Milesplit.com. The website said, "Sarro was the top American in the field... Although it's not often the primary distance in Washington, D.C., Sarro lowered Eric Vandendries ' (St. Albans School) 45-year-old record of 14:54.8."
