Franc Miller '47 Comes Home to Eye Street

On October 20, Mr. Franc Miller of the Class of 1947 returned to Gonzaga for the first time in 78 years. Along with his son and daughter, he was given a guided tour of the campus that has changed so much during the intervening decades, and students and staff were delighted to greet him and welcome him back. His advice for current students was simple: “Stick with it and study hard.”

After Gonzaga, Franc studied art at the University of Maryland and became a graphic designer, art director and eventually operated his own one-man advertising agency.

In an email after his visit, Mr. Miller shared his thoughts on the day: “It was outstanding. The current school buildings, facilities and student variety is certainly exemplary, and demonstrates the pride and accomplishments of the Jesuit character. The location is the same but the buildings and programs reflect the advances of the times. Well done. I am impressed and should have returned sooner.”
