Gonzaga Celebrates International Food Fair Day
The diversity and generosity of the Gonzaga community was on full display during the International Food Fair on Wednesday, April 17th. Well over 100 volunteers from the Gonzaga Mothers Club greeted and served the crowd of students, faculty and staff, while dozens more prepared dishes that represent their family's culture or personal favorites - from the Caribbean, Italy, Latin America, the Philippines and everywhere in between.
A new addition this year was a "waiters' race" around Buchanan Field to the courtyard -- inspired by the the French tradition of waiters racing through the streets of Paris. The jazz ensemble, conducted by Mr. Andrew Wood, also played in the courtyard, providing some great music for those eating outdoors on the beautiful spring day.
A longtime student favorite, this annual tradition is also a fun day for many Gonzaga moms. “I love seeing the boys and their friends in their element - with each other and food,” says Kristen Wood (mom to Jack ‘21, Luke ‘22, Alec ‘25, Zach ‘28). “I enjoy seeing the teachers and staff, and am reminded of all the good people who teach and influence our boys. And of course I love seeing all of my mom friends! There’s no denying that Gonzaga is the best community.”
