Swim and Dive won its 13th consecutive Washington Metropolitan Prep School Swim and Dive League (WMPSSDL) Championship on Saturday, finishing 226 points ahead of 2nd place DeMatha. Gonzaga showcased its team depth, as twenty swimmers and divers qualified for Saturday night’s finals.
The divers gave Gonzaga a lead they never relinquished, finishing 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th to score 80 points. In the meet’s first event, the 200 medley relay, Gonzaga’s medley relay of Finn Bacon ‘24, Caden Wilkinson ‘25, Kirk Morgan ‘27, and Malcolm McKenzie ‘24 defeated Georgetown Prep by only 0.13 seconds, with Malcolm making up over 1.5 seconds in the final leg! The team further cemented its lead with 4 swimmers in the top 8 of the 200 free (Bice ‘25, Bishop ‘25, Brooks ‘25, Morgan). McKenzie won the 50 free in a personal-best time of 20.61, and he again was victorious in the very next event, 100 fly, in a time of 49.17. Bacon and Brooks finished right behind Malcolm to give the Eagles a dominant 1-2-3 finish in the event. Gonzaga earned relay victories in both the 200 free and 400 free relays as well, and all three relays earned All-American Consideration times with their performances.
