Cross Country Wins Jesuit Championship

Cross Country finished with 24 points to capture its fifth Jesuit Championship since 2009. The Eagles raced a 2.5 mile course at VanCortlandt Park in the Bronx, New York on Saturday, November 15. Anthony Sarro ‘26 won the race in 13:20 to become the third Gonzaga runner to win the individual title since 2002. Captain Will Buckley ‘25 finished second, Kai Rock ‘26 fourth, Ian Catanzano ‘26 seventh, and Declan Musselman ‘27 tenth to round out the scoring.

Gonzaga performed well in both the JV and Freshmen races as well. In the JV race we finished first as Captain Matt Podratsky ‘25 made an impressive debut in his first race post surgery by finishing fourth. Other scorers were Captain Peter Allen ‘25 (third), Luke Hillebrenner ‘26 (sixth), Hayden Burnside ‘25 (tenth), and Chase Desjardins ‘27 (eleventh). The Freshmen finished second in a close race with St. Peter’s, behind a 2-3-5 finish by three Eagles from the Class of 2028: Max Gaston, Jack Coogan, and Brent Cruz. Gaston broke the Gonzaga freshman record for the 2500 meter course with a time of 8:42.
