Baseball Advances to WCAC Championship Series in Dramatic Fashion

Baseball entered the week as the #5 seed in the 2024 WCAC Baseball Tournament. Gonzaga was scheduled to face Good Counsel on Saturday, May 4 in the quarterfinal single elimination game, but the game was postponed. On Monday, May 6, we were tied 4-4 in the top of the 7th Inning in Olney, MD before this RBI single from Mason Green '24:

The next day in the WCAC Semifinal Series against top seed Paul VI, the Eagles took a 5-1 lead late in the game only to see Paul VI fight back to force extra innings. But the Eagles took the lead in the top of the 9th and held on to win game one on the road, 6-5.

And on Wednesday, May 7, the Eagles found themselves in another extra inning thriller against the Panthers, this time at the Nationals Youth Academy. Tied 3-3 in the bottom of the 9th, Gonzaga advanced to the WCAC Championship Series with this walk-off home run from captain Peyton Battaglini '24:
