Olu Fashanu '20 Honored as Campbell Award Finalist
Olu Fashanu '20 is in his fourth year at Penn State University and was honored as one of 16 finalists for the Campbell Award which is college football's top scholar-athlete award. According to the National Football Foundation (NFF), the William V. Campbell Trophy recognizes "an individual as the absolute best in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership."
Commonly referred to as the "Academic Heisman," the trophy was presented to Oregon's Bo Nix earlier this week at the National Football Foundation's award dinner in Las Vegas, NV. Leading up to the event, Penn State shared this great video on Olu:
Fashanu carries a 3.45 grade-point average in supply chain and information systems. Sports Illustrated writes, "He also is the highest-ranked offensive tackle in the 2024 NFL Draft class and a two-time All-Big Ten selection. Fashanu has not allowed a sack in more than 650 pass-protection snaps over the past two seasons." Additionally, Olu was recently named the Big Ten offensive lineman of the year:
